Helping the next generation

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we’re big on “realism.”

We talk about it constantly, showing the human side of business, ditching the corporate mask, and being genuine. Well, today, that meant stepping away from the monitors and heading back to school.

For the fourth year running, we had the pleasure of spending the day at Stonelaw High School in Rutherglen. The mission? Mock interviews with a fantastic group of S4, S5, and S6 students who have their sights set on a career in marketing and media.

More Than Just a Practice Run

It’s easy to look at “Mock Interview Day” as a box-ticking exercise for a school curriculum. But for us, it’s one of the most rewarding days on our calendar.

Think back to when you were 16 or 17. The professional world feels like a giant, locked door, and you’re not quite sure if you have the right key. These students are at a massive crossroads, deciding between university, college, or diving straight into modern apprenticeships.

By sitting down with them, we aren’t just checking their CVs or asking “where do you see yourself in five years?” We’re giving them a safe space to:

  • Find their professional voice: Helping them translate their hobbies and school projects into “marketable” skills.
  • Demystify the industry: Marketing isn’t just “making TikToks” or “designing logos”. It’s strategy, psychology, and hard work.
  • Build confidence: Sometimes, all a young person needs is one professional to tell them, “You’re actually really good at this.”

Why We Keep Coming Back

People often ask why we take a full day out of a busy production schedule to do this. The answer is simple: Community is part of our brand.

We could spend all day talking about “brand values” on LinkedIn, but if we aren’t actually out there living them, it’s just noise. Helping guide these students as they take their next steps is our way of giving back to the community that supports local businesses like ours.

It’s about realism. It’s about showing these kids that “The Media” isn’t some far-off world in London, it’s right here in their backyard, and there’s a place for them in it.

To the Students of Stonelaw High…

If we interviewed you today, thank you for your honesty, your ambition, and even your nerves. It shows you care. Whether you’re heading off to study marketing or you’re looking to start your own creative hustle, remember that your voice is your superpower.

Don’t try to sound like a textbook. Sound like you.

Because marketing is, at its heart, is about people helping people.
